Timeless themes of allegory, archetypes, legends and nature in digital mixed-media techniques give hope, power, and beauty to viewers through figurative forms. Turn-of-the-Century artists and illustrators have been my great influence. Nature and my reaction to what I feel is an overly-technical world also generate themes and subject matter.
I love the hands-on feel and intense colors of tissue paper and the results of overlays and also enjoy playing with various effects on my computer. Technique developed through trial and error is essential to my work because of medical issues.
Since I can’t not draw, I take my rough sketches and drawings, manipulate them in the computer, paint, draw or collage the background panels, then lay down the printed images and add to them with various other media, such as paint, pen and handmade papers.
